Article Processing Charges

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Asia Journal of Social Innovation and Development functions as a completely open-access journal published by Asian Institute for Social Innovation. Every article published in this journal is accessible online to all readers without any subscription or paywall limitations.

To maintain free access while ensuring high editorial and production standards, a publication fee — known as the Article Processing Charge (APC) — of USD 1000 (US dollars) is imposed for each manuscript that is accepted following a rigid peer review. This fee supports the entire production process, which includes peer-review management, copyediting, typesetting, online publication, digital archiving, and overall journal operations. Submissions that do not undergo the review process, such as publications in the Special Section “Global Dialogues: Leaders, Scholars & Practitioners” will be granted full waiver.

Billing and Payment

Upon acceptance of a paper, an invoice will be emailed to authors. Payments should only be made against invoices that are officially issued by Asian Institute for Social Innovation; we do not outsource APC collection to any external entities, and the publisher is not liable for transactions made with unauthorized intermediaries.

Discounts and Waivers

Authors may qualify for reduced APCs, as well as discounts on additional author services. Many public and private funding agencies, as well as universities, may reimburse or directly cover APCs for funded projects; authors are encouraged to verify their eligibility for such funding. Authors lacking the funds to cover the APC may contact the editorial office (email: journal@ajsid.org); requests for APC waivers for manuscripts submitted to Asia Journal of Social Innovation and Development will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Withdrawal of Submissions

A withdrawal may be requested for a newly submitted manuscript, a paper under review, an accepted article, or an Article in Press, all of which are removed from the online submission system upon approval. If a withdrawal is pursued on grounds that are deemed unethical or unreasonable, a withdrawal fee equal to 30% of the applicable APC will be charged. Withdrawal remains possible for accepted but not yet formally published works, including newly accepted papers and Articles in Press. It should be noted that no portion of an APC already paid will be refunded if the withdrawal results from confirmed academic misconduct or other violations of research and publication ethics.
